2021 is going to be welcomed in a very different way this time. Because of the COVID-19 situation, we’ll have to do our part and celebrate a little differently. Thankfully, we’re doing pretty fine here in Singapore and not all celebrations are cancelled. Here’s a guide to New Year’s Celebrations for 2021.
Even though we are now in Phase 3, that doesn’t mean that all events are back. That particularly applies to the annual Marina Bay Countdown. The authorities have announced that Countdown event is being cancelled this year to minimize crowds. But the celebrations are going to be brought towards the heartlands. This means that they aren’t any fireworks in town this year.
Instead, the fireworks have been brought to 11 places in the heartlands. So do head down there if you don’t want to miss the fireworks.
These locations include:
- Bedok
- Bishan
- Boon Lay
- Geylang
- Hougang
- Jurong
- Nanyang
- Tampines
- Tiong Bahru
- Woodlands
- Yew Tee
There are a couple of virtual events held by various community organisers. In fact, some of them sound pretty fun like Bedok’s silent disco event and Sengkang’s magic show!
You can join the livestream to participate in games and watch live performances. The full list of virtual events can be found here.
If you’re looking to stay at home, you can catch the Channel 5’s Let’s Celebrate 2021 live performance featuring artists like Jason Derulo and Jeremy Zucker starting from 10.30 pm. Also, the fireworks will be live-streamed on the various Community Club’s Facebook pages and on Channel 5.
