Road Closures During National Day Parade
Singapore will be celebrating her 53rd birthday on Thursday, 9 August. And like every other year, there’s the National Day Parade. The venue for this year’s parade is The Float @ Marina Bay.
Here’s what you need to know about all the traffic and security arrangements for the day.
Road Closures
You can expect a number of road closures around the Marina Bay area. At various periods of the day and at different parts of these roads. The roads affected are Temasek Avenue, Raffles Avenue, Republic Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue, Raffles Link, Nicoll Highway, Esplanade Drive, Stamford Road, Connaught Drive, Fullerton Road and Collyer Quay.
If you’re heading to the Marina Bay area, make sure you don’t drive. Because access is granted for authorized vehicles.
Also, the authorities have issued a warning to all motorists. The Singapore Police Force advises motorists to expect delays in the areas surrounding the National Day Parade. The affected areas include Raffles Boulevard, Raffles Avenue, Republic Avenue, Bras Basah Road, North Bridge Road, Parliament Place, Coleman Street, Stamford Road, Nicoll Highway, Esplanade Drive and Bayfront Avenue.
If you happen to be heading to Suntec City and Marina Square, do avoid Crawford Street and Ophir Road. Therefore, please take alternate routes via Nicoll Highway or Beach Road.
Parking Restrictions
Vehicles found to be parking indiscriminately or causing obstructions will be towed. You can expect strict enforcement along these roads.
