Scariest Characters On The Road

Halloween is the season when we are all hyped up about dressing up as the scariest character for Halloween parties or even the Universal Studios Singapore Halloween Night. While most think zombies from Train to Busan or an old granny from Changi Hospital is scary, we bring you a list of the scariest characters you can find on the roads of Singapore that is sure to send chills down the spines of any drivers.

1) Reckless Drivers

These drivers are usually very confident of their abilities to change lanes and speed, like how Formula One drivers overtake each other. Most famously known for their impatience, they make dangerous choices to drive at high speeds. They test the ultimate reaction time of every driver on the road, cutting in front of different cars with little room for emergency brakes.

2) Cyclists

These cyclists are professionally trained to endanger the lives of others on the road. Weaving in and out of lanes, they have the illusion of being able to keep up with cars driving at 80km/h and constantly like to challenge their own limits. As they like to cycle extremely close to cars, they get the adrenaline pumping for drivers. Most would agree that the most dangerous cyclists are those that cycle at night without any headlights or reflective equipment to warn cars of their presence.

3) Pedestrians Who Think They Own The Road

As taxpayers, these people naturally think that they own a share in the road. Despite road signs established on the grounds, they like to set their own rules. Most of these pedestrians like to flaunt their superpower by holding up their hand to stop the car. Similar to the YOLO cyclists, these pedestrians are also fond of endangering the lives of drivers.

4) Speed Cameras

They are sharp shooters, assassinating the drivers on the road with fines. Faster than the sniper’s bullet, they can induce fear in drivers. Just like pedestrians that hold up their hand to stop the car, speed cameras can slow down cars in an instant in order not to get the “fine” bullet.

5) Traffic Police

Dressed in smart attires, the greatest super power that a traffic police have is their sight. With extraordinary eyesight, they are able to spot unimaginably fine detail in a car ranging from an unbuckled seat beat to a phone held in your hand. With them around, drivers have reported to hear manipulating voices in their heads saying things like “Buckle your seat belt”, “Don’t go to the bus lane” and even “Slow down now”.

6) Summon Aunties

You hear them before you see them. People scream at the top of their lungs when these summon aunties step into the vicinity. The word “Summon!” is how you can get people scurrying to their cars with fear. Since most car parks are now equipped with cash card gantries, the presence of summon aunties becomes increasingly rarer. The sightings of them are therefore more haunting to drivers in Singapore.
