Closing the lowest since March 2010, cars in Category A ended the bidding exercise at $23,568, down from $25,000. Premiums in Category A are meant for cars with engines that are lower than 1,600cc and not exceeding 130bhp.

Also closing lower were premiums for Category B cars, falling to $31,001 from $31,101. COE premiums in this category areĀ used for larger and more powerful vehicles.

Open Category premiums, which can be used for any vehicle type, also closed lower in the latest bidding exercise. COE premiums closed at $30,851 from $30,959.

There were a total of 6,950 bids received but only 5,119 COEs were available.
